It is one of the applications developed under GeoRiskPH. HazardHunterPH is a web application with a map interface that allows the user to quickly and easily generate hazards assessment reports of the user’s selected location on the map. Its functions include:
• Find out if a location is prone to seismic, volcanic, or hydro-meteorological hazards
• Generate hazard assessment reports with explanations and recommendations
• See which areas in the Philippines are prone to different hazards
• Display exposure of schools, hospitals and roads to various hazards
• View up-to-date hazard information from mandated government agencies
It is not yet available as a downloadable mobile application, but you can access it through your phone’s internet browser by visiting the website link. The mobile version of the application is set to be released before 2020.
Currently, users may print the Hazard Assessment Report and the map produced or take a screenshot of the interface. Government vector files, depending on agreement with the data owner, may soon be available after launching the Map and Feature Services Portal. In the meantime, users are advised to request directly from the government agencies for vector files or other data formats.
Yes, for those agencies who have signed a Memorandum of Agreement with GeoRiskPH. As of now, most of the databases from the agencies are still being set up for the GeoRiskPH integrated system.
We envision that institutions requiring hazards assessment will use the HazardHunterPH to verify or perform the assessment themselves. Currently, documents generated by the HazardHunterPH application may be used as reference. To request for official documents, request these from the concerned government agency.
As we establish more partnerships, we may accommodate more data for, not only hazards, but also exposure data, basemaps, vulnerability, capacity and risk information that are useful for hazards and risk assessment.
The HazardHunterPH and GeoRiskPH websites both have a link to a feedback form where the user can input comments and suggestions for the applications. HazardHunterPH also has a Report a Problem form in case the user encounters an issue or problem with the data, interface, or application in general.
As of July 16, 2019, it is not yet possible to download maps in PDF, or image formats from the application. However, scanning the QR Code located in the Hazard Assessment Report will direct the users to a URL page of the location where the assessment was conducted. The users may take a screenshot of the session to produce a copy of the map and assessment panel.

HazardHunterPH, NAMRIA’s Geoportal, and UP NOAH’s platforms all have the ability to display hazards and exposure information on maps. PHIVOLCS FaultFinder only gives distance from an active fault whilst HazardHunterPH gives distance from active faults as well as volcanoes.
Maps generated by UP NOAH are scenario-based models, which may be used for early warning. On the other hand, maps from DENR-MGB on Rain-Induced Landslide and Flood, and maps from DOST-PAGASA on Storm Surge are deterministic models, which may be used for long-term planning and development.
HazardHunterPH displays a broad range of up-to-date multi-hazard maps that can be used for various purposes. More importantly, what differentiates HazardHunterPH from the rest is its ability to conduct multi-hazard assessments for seismic, volcanic, and hydro-meteorological hazards with the inclusion of explanations and recommendations from mandated agencies namely, DOST-PHIVOLCS, DOST-PAGASA, and DENR-MGB, in its generated reports.
